In spite of this horrendous heat, I had a momentary burst of creativity.
Out of town guests are arriving this weekend to celebrate the kids birthday. After our 'shut in summer' I'm working hard to clean & 'hoosh away the wreckage.
A couple of months ago I racked up at Laurie Anna's,
I bought one of these baskets & a sparkly chandelier.
If you've been to Laurie Anna's Vintage Home then you know how magical her vignettes are.
If you haven't, I did a post about her here.
I love her lighting ideas.
So I did a little layering of my own.
I'm looking for a wire hamper to use, but until then I'm using an old tattered shade.
Then I embellished the basket to create a welcoming front door.
Our house number is hard to see,
not anymore!
Sweet vintage tots, some sheet music & dried up flowers from my garden.
(Laurie Anna's flowers were prettier)
So are you keeping cool?
Are you looking forward to fall?
Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteWhat I wouldn't give to shop in her fabulous place! I love the baskets and the basket you created for your door....very cute.
I hope that you are enjoying your summer with the kids. It's so darn hot here that being outside isn't much fun. I'm ready for fall!
So glad you stopped by to see me the other day. I've been missing you.
hugs
Sissie
Fall? Is that when it falls below 110 and we are experiencing the cold front that brings in 101? ;-D
ReplyDeleteI'm so ready for fall...
LOVE your shade and baby chandelier!!!
Have fun! ;-D

What a wonderful post girl!!!! The lighting just takes my breath away ~ seems lighting is one of the most important things of all, don't you think? Sets the mood for our homes....I love what you did with the lampshade too!!! My very fav is the door basket, it's GORGEOUS girl! Just the right amount of different elements and textures. Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI love that you put your own sweet touches on your treasure and I agree...L.A.'s shoppe is something else.
My main questions are...when did you go to L.A.s...and why wasn't I notified?
Deb
Love your ideas Lisa, especially the front door basket with your house number on! I just had to pin it!
ReplyDeleteI see you're busy with the triplets b-day and seeing that I'm going to Sweden this month, let's talk swap in September, okay? I'm looking forward to it and hope to find some tresures while on vacation.
Btw. we're kinda freezing over here and it's raining cats and docs. We had only 3 hot summer days so far - not fair!
Wanna come live over here?
xoxo~ Carola
I clean the house the best just before company arrives.
ReplyDeleteI adore your front door basket, what a fabulous idea.
Stuck inside the house all summer, too, Arizona is hot!
I love your lighting fixture made of the lamp shade...cool! Your welcoming door decor makes me want to come in and stay awile! Sometimes our work looks less attractive to us than others but yours is every bit as beautiful as hers and in my opinion more beautiful. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!"
ReplyDeleteFall can't come soon enough for me either! We finally got rain last night and the 115 temps are easing, yeah! I love the lighting and front door decor you make, just lovely. Enjoy your guests and your party.
ReplyDeleteTHIS HEAT IS GRUELING!!!!!!! I am so with you on being OVER SUMMER! And WHY DO WE LIVE IN TEXAS IN THE SUMMER?
ReplyDeleteAre you ready for school to start? Looking forward to HOURS of time that belong to YOU???? I know my GRANDS are bored with summer & ready for school to start. I miss you! Stay cool!
Charlene

Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI want to go to Canton so badly! Some day I'll get there and Laurie Anna's too. This is a great post! Love all your ideas and I may steal your front door idea for my new house. We are suppose to move in a bout 2 weeks. Hope the heat lets up here in SA so we won't melt when we are trying to move. Happy birthday to the triplets! Hope your visit will be a gret one.

Beautiful pictures. Love the basket with the green hydrangeas added.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
I especially love that door basket, Lisa! I have been wanting one, too. Your personalization is awesome. Our house number is hard to see, too. I may have to "imitate" you -- the sincerest form of flattery!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Happy birthday to your three! You are so blessed!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful images! What I loved the most is the basket you decorated for your front door. The pictures and tags and rolled up sheet music! Right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Hi Lisa, I'm catching up after our computer had been down for a week. Your door basket looks beautiful and very inviting! Happy Birthday to the kids! How was the party?
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a problem staying cool this summer. It had rained most of July and August or it was gray and not too warm. That mostly bothered me on Sundays when I wanted to go to the flea. Yesterday we went but there weren't too many booths and I only found a chippy lamp.
Have a great week!
Hugs to you,
Julia
Lisa,
ReplyDeleteEverything looks sooo beautiful. Your photography is like frosting on the cake!
Hugs,
Suz
Hi Sweet
ReplyDeleteI was so happy when I saw you had visited this morning... I miss getting around but just got too much going, I squeek out a post now and then and that's about it. Funny you should say I am all over blogland??? Must be Fifi, she was here in the spring shooting the house.
The weather just has been crazy! I really feel for you down there, it was hot enough here all summer! But it has been beautiful this last week. Warm sun fresh cool air, I can feel a hint of fall in the air.
These lighting ideas are great, I have to think of something for the studio, I have florescent in there and hate it but it gives good light.
Good to see what you have been up to... the kids went back to school here today. Can't believe summer is gone already!
Blessings to you my dear friend

Have you melted yet, my friend??? I CANNOT imagine how you have coped with the heat in Texas this summer. I'm sure you are going to be very happy when fall gets here.
ReplyDeleteI've been AWOL from blogging for much of the summer...painting for licensing instead...my 2013 calendar for Lang...and it has kept me busy and happy! But I've missed you!
I'll try to do better!
Hugs to you!
