Blogland is a busy, busy place right now.
I can practically hear the shuffle of hands making, creating, sewing & sending.
Everywhere I look, on Pinterest or blogs I see such amazing, inspiring work!
I just want to make everything!!
Unfortunately there are only so many hours in the day & my kids are so demanding.
Expecting to eat & wear clean clothes.
The nerve!
I have one Christmas present all wrapped up!
I ordered Karla's cuff kit & tutorial last week.
I've never made a cuff & was a little scared about it, but I think it turned out nice!
Here is the back.
Now that I know how to do this I will be making lots for gifts this year.
Now you may need to sit down for this part.
Last month I did an Autumn swap with Tina .
This is what arrived on my doorstep.
Peek inside!
Scads of beautiful white laces & linens.
This is the coolest resin charm!!!
A wonderful nature collage!
Look at these incredible pods!
And seaweed from her shore.
So I'm blown away, right?
I think Wow, this is a great swap.
But then Lily found one more package wrapped in tissue.
One of Tina's altered books!!
Each page more amazing than the last.
Love the feather in the pocket.
Tina is such a talent, I get so many ideas from her blog.
And she shares them so generously!
What an excellent pile of lovelies!
Thank you so much sweet friend!
On the subject of altered books...........
I made these pages for Sandra's book.
A little velvet pocket stuffed with stitching tools.
A vintage tatting bobbin & arm-less reading glasses.
This is the back of the page. I have a beautiful book called
The Portfolio of Needlework that was published in 1855.
I used a page from that book for my background.
In the window an illustration from a very old reader.
Have I said how much I love this collaboration?!
Every month I look forward to seeing the new pages.
In a few months I will have a priceless treasure.
This year I am thankful for so many things.
On my list is the friendship I've found with all of you!
Have a safe happy holiday!
~Lisa
PS Check out my etsy, new things listed!

Your cuff is so sweet - I can see you making lots of them!
Tina's swap is truly gorgeous especially her little book with just so many very beautiful vintage laces and the collage too is just so sweet. How lucky are YOU???
But I suspect you are more than a worthy recipient!
Love your page you made for Sandra - I can see how much fun you had in creating this one! That old needlebook is amazing.

I love getting caught up on your blog, Lisa! So many beautiful things to see, and all kinds of creative fun with friends! I wish I could have been with you guys in Canton. I can't wait to go there -- it will be in 2012 for sure! I hope you are having a fab Thanksgiving today. I sure did!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, thanks for stopping by my corner of the world. I haven't been over here in a while and definitely could get lost in all the gorgeous creativity that shows up here on your blog. Your work is always so beautifully detailed and Tina's gifts are absolutely gorgeous! The fabric pages you and the girls are making will make a wonderful treasure indeed. Wishing you and yours a happy holiday weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteI laugh about the clean clothes and food for the triplets Lisa, cause I wonder how you even imagine to get done what you do!!! I had my six one at a time, so you are able to have a little breathing room, but TRIPLETS???
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful cuff ~sigh~ I started one once and this may me the push I need to finish it. I love wearing hand-made things.
I am so in awe of the altered book Tina created. It is stunning, as is everything you received in the swap.
I have been using a lot of my vintage laces lately, and was wondering if it is ever hard for you to part with it all? I have been making some simple sachets to sell at a shop in Boise, and I find myself reluctantly using the vintage stuff :-)
To answer your question about peonies...I don't usually add anything to the water. I haven't really tried it, maybe it would add to their life in the vase. I bet you are enjoying them and their beautiful scent.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
sending hugs from here...
WOW!!!!!!!!! Tina sent so many treasures one more beautiful than the next. I LOVE everything. And the book for you swap is turning out amazing. I LOVE the pages you shared. Can't wait to see it all completed. Let;s try to talk next week about the Christmas get together. I have jury duty Monday. YUCK!

ReplyDeleteLove your little fashioned cuff - it is so adorable. Love that little pin that you included - sets it all off so perfectly!
I too am feeling the strain of way too much to do in way too little time. I have accepted that I am just not going to get it all done!
I know this will be a big Christmas for your precious babes - lots of activity around your Christmas tree this year - so enjoy - these moments pass all too quickly!
Happy Holidays Lisa-
Vicki
