Nest bag

Well, it's still snowing here in Fort Worth.  Although the snow is beautiful, downed power lines have left us in the dark indefinitely.  Daddy & the kids made a sled out of an old turtle sandbox, while I sat by the fire & finished a project.
A little nest bag.
I made a loom out of cardboard & used grapevine for the handle.

A birdie in it's nest.

Pictures of our winter whites.

Taken by my husband,

at 1am.  Surreal, huh?

I know it's miserable (sometimes) to be in, but it certainly is beautiful! Is that your house in the background? If so, has it been in previous posts? That's wonderful! I'd love to see more photos.

Your little nest bag is so sweet. There's certainly a dreaminess about being snowed in and spending time creating treasures...

Thanks for sharing!

By the way, in your previous blog, that little piece of lace is tatting -- did you know that? I love tatting; my mom used to do it. It's labor intensive, but so wonderful.

Have a great weekend! Hope you get power soon.

The last photo taken at 1 a.m. looks like Mother Nature finally took a break for a moment and asked herself, "Now why did I go and do that?"

The nest bag is really sweet, and it gave me an idea of what I could make with my daughter. And the pictures are indeed surreal, I love walking around andtaking pictures at that time of the night (after a heavy snow fall)... Very dream like.

Hi Lisa!
That bag is so cool! I can't believe you were able to make it with no lights! The pics are just beautiful. I love the way the snow looks but I don't think I'd like to live in it all the time. Thankfully you don't, so enjoy!!!

Thank you so much for your lovely birthday wishes. I hope you have a wonderful and love filled day tomorrow!

Lisa, you wondered how I get that sepia tone on my tags? I print the images on an off-white kind of heavy weight paper. It's not as heavy as card stock and not as flimsy as photo copy paper. For the edges I use markers - brown ones that are almost dry. And ochre. And sometimes I use chalks. I want to try my oil pastels too and see what happens. Oh...and coffee! I dye the tags in coffee if I'm not going to cover them with printed paper.
I do the same thing with the images on the edges, and printing them on the off-white paper ages them a little automatically.
Hope this helps! If not, ask away again!
Thank you for asking! It's a compliment because I always think my tags are just ordinary.
Hugs!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Diane

Lisa,

PS: I don't coffee dye the images though! I don't know if the paper and the ink would hold up to being soaked in liquid. Might be worth a try though! Hmmm....you've got me thinking! If they curled, I could iron them because I've ironed the tags to flatten them!

I love the nest bag, what a great creation. Snow, in Forth Worth, TX, who would have predicted that??? They were saying 49 states had snow this past week, a history maker.
Well, up here in Pennsylvania, we are to get more Monday afternoon. We don't need anymore, but who can stop it, but GOD. I just hope it all doesn't melt too quickly.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Wow, Lisa! It looks like y'all got it worse than we did up here in Frisco (just north of Dallas and Plano, but still part of the metroplex.) The photos your husband took are gorgeous (and yes, surreal--1am!) Your completed project is amazing. It totally says "winter cozies" to me. Way to put your real life into your work! I hope I can meet you sometime and we can craft together!
