Fabric Collage, Then & Now

I was looking for pictures of sisters awhile back, & Dawn sent me this!
As soon as I saw the 4 school girls, a story began to develop in my head.
I imagined a kinship between them.
It reminded me of the bond I feel with you.

We share our feelings, our joy & pain.
Our dreams & creations.
Each time I post, I know I will get support & truthful feedback from my friends

It's like we have our own little sorority.
So I took that feeling , & turned it into a mystic tale of sisterhood.

They are bound by a secret & a devotion to each other.
The secret sisterhood.

Rummaging through my storage unit, I came across my first tattered collage
A little beat up, but I remember it like I created it yesterday.

Self portrait, age 5.  Lovin' that burlap even then,
& still workin' that hair-do.
There's some comfort in familiarity.

Lot's of new things in the shop today.

Hi Lisa,
I love the self portrait. It is so darling. The sisterhood collage is so awesome! What a great reason behind it as well. It truly is a wonderful feeling knowing that there are so many caring people out here who want us to succeed at whatever it is we do or try. I just love that about the friendships I've made here. This piece is a tresure!
hugs

Your self portrait is priceless.

The sisterhood collage is beautiful! I love every detail. I have two sisters and just yesterday I purchased an old real photo postcard of three sisters for the purpose of creating something for each of them. Thanks for the inspiration with this collage.

Love what you did with the vintage photo. I always enjoy your blog. I wanted to ask you if that line separator image you used here b/w roses, may I use that in my blog? If you know a source for more of those, I'd love to know. Thanks!

Lisa, your collage is awesome! There are so many wonderful details to look at. Those letter beads are just perfect for the title and I love the quilting you did around the girls. Isn't it amazing that we both made a collage with 4 girls?
How did the surgery go? Are you feeling o.k. or do you have some pain? If so, I wish you speedy recovery!
Hugs,
Julia

How cool that you still have a childhood work of art! I have a couple of high school pieces in my studio, they are VINTAGE, but I don't any from earlier.
