Vintage Christmas Inspiration

I'm joining Debra & everyone for Vintage Inspiration Friday, but before I do I just have to say a little something about my week.
It's not fun being the center of controversy but I think some good came from it.
It's a subject that we all feel strongly about, one way or another.
It needed to be addressed & discussed.
Thanks to Dawn & Karla for posting a tough topic in a respectful way .
And to everyone who called, commented & emailed....
Thank you so very much!
It reinforced what I already knew, that blogging is wonderful!
The sharing & friendship far outweighs any negativity.
So enough with all that -  Christmas is coming!
As much as I love my whites & neutrals, Christmas in our house is very old school.
The kids love it & that's what it's all about right?

I've collected & inherited scads of decorations.
Still I can't seem to resist the after Christmas sales & always end up buying a few more things every year.

These old felted reindeer came from a garage sale one year.

I bought my big Santa face in Canton a few years ago.
I tell the kids he's watching them!
The child's skis came from Round Top.
I may have to move them to a safer place, the boys keep trying to ski off their bunk beds!
This felt appliqued tree skirt came from Anthropologie after Christmas one year, it was marked down to $30.

I collect vintage ribbon of all kinds, I think it's too pretty to hide, the old elf boots are one of my favorite things.

We still haven't finished decorating outside but do you see where I'm going with this?
My Christmas china came from a thrift store.
These Santa's are saying 'let me out!!'

 Christmas blooms.
By the day after Christmas I am so ready to take it all down & get back to my low color!
After visiting Ann & seeing her beautiful white winter wonderland, I decided I could have the best of both worlds.
I did our bedroom in vintage whites. I'll show you more when I do my big reveal.

I've been working on several projects from Karla & Beth's Romantic White Christmas e-zine.
I loved their Victorian boot banner, I'm a nut for fabric transfer so I made mine 3-dimensional.
I'm working on a few more for gifts.
The lace wrapping paper idea was one of my favorites, I'm doing all my gifts with it this year.  But I decided to take it a step further & apply it to furniture.
This little desk sits on the deck outside of our bedroom.
If you need some great ideas & techniques to add some romance to your holiday decor, check out their E-zine.  There are tons of great projects!
Thanks again Debra for inviting us all to share our vintage inspiration every week.
Check out Common Grounds for a big 'ol dose of pretty!
Have an awesome weekend friends!

Lisa, it all looks so pretty! I have to say that while I didn't comment I kept shaking my head at the cruelty that's out there in the blog land, but you are right there are still enough good people in this world to make you want to keep blogging and it's your "true" friends that will have your back when needed!

Hey Sweet Girl,

Love the old school red and greens! I like how you mixed them in with your "low color". The little flocked deers and glittery house are so sweet. I love how you have the house displayed next to your pictures of houses, so cozy and sweet.

I hope to get to my decorating next week. I woke up under the weather and think I will rest up this weekend and tackle it next week. It is so nice to see what everyone else is doing to holiday up their homes. Thanks for sharing your heart, talents, and holiday decor.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Praying for better days ahead for you. I believe something good ALWAYS comes out of the bad.
I love your decorations. I sold most of my vintage Christmas decorations and will probably always regret it. To me, they never go out of style.

Girl, you are creating your own Christmas echoes for those kiddos. Love love, triple love it all and I'm with Beth. Where do I get me one of those cute boys in red p.j.s?

P.S. Don't you know people always take aim at the biggest star? Those who know you, love you and those who don't...are just plain throwed off.

LOVE your post!!! I remember being with you when you bought the ski's! And those elf shoes 2die4!
I'm like you... LOVE it when I put it up but, by DECEMBER 26 I'm OVER IT ALL & WANT IT GONE!

I didn't email during the hub bub because I knew how upset you would be. And I just didn't want to add to the stress & anxiety! YOU & I have discussed this subject before... there is almost NO new ideas but, each persons take on what they've seen, learned... So glad it is behind you now. THIS beast will again raise it's ugly head somewhere but, the merry go round goes round & round. HUGS!

We do it up old school too! My kids have been collecting nutcrackers since they were little. Most are written on bottom where they came from or who gifted. So, I have to mix those in along with all the other treasures they make at school. When it's all done, I love it. Yours looks great. I love it all! Great idea to make the bedroom your low color vintage white wonderland...can't wait to see. Love the projects you are working on!

Sweet Lisa, I am sorry about your week. You know I LOVE you, right!!!!
I have read Dawn's post, but not Karla's yet.
Your home is so warm and beautiful. I loved seeing all your lovely Christmas decor. You have created magic for your children. A childhood home at Christmas they will always remember and try to emulate for their own children.
I feel so blessed to call you friend.
hugs to you....

Hey Lisa, thanks for stopping by today. I don't know exactly what happened with you, but kinda figured it out from reading Dawn and Karla's posts. It recently happened with another sweet blogger friend. I will tell you like I told her, when you do something well and with heart and people are drawn to you, there are always gonna be those who are envious and only know how to lash out negatively. The problem girl is you are just way too talented. Ha! Even if I tried to alter a bottle, it would never, ever look as beautifully as yours. Just let it all roll off your back. All the naysayers can just keep their crappity crap to themselves.

Love your Christmas tree and that big Santa sitting next to it. And you would be the one to love the elf shoes. You do have a thing for shoes, don't you???!!!

Take care and keep creating! Best wishes, Tammy

Lisa, re: the little cabinet I repainted...well what were you thinking! LOL! Get yerself back on over to Hobby Lobby and see if they have any more! ;-) I'd love to see what YOU do with it!
I'm always on the lookout for old ones but dang it, they're getting pricey. Saw one for $29 in the antique store the other day and thought...no...can't resell that one if I wanted to make anything on it on Etsy. Can't even MAKE one for less than that.
Hugs and blessings!!!

I just love all the beautiful photos you've shared! while I too love white & neutrals our decorating is more traditional, my family would protest should I try to change things. thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words on my last post!

Rebecca said...

This all looks so festive... I actually do not do all white either and I will be confessing I mean posting :)
I am glad you have seen through this crazy storm and have focused on something that isn't so silly. I don't mean you are silly but the whole fact that you have to address something like this is foolishness. I love your artwork... yours!
You are a talent my friend...
Call me, I have been wondering how you are doing... are you healthy.
Many Blessings to you today and
much love
