details

Want to see what I've been doing in my spare time?
Well, when I'm not playing nursemaid to my ailing family
(the flu has invaded our home)
I've been gluing, sewing & creating art books!

While putting together pages for my books I begin to understand the relationship, or marriage of the elements. I can spend obscene amounts of time picking & sorting to find just the right words, images & findings that when combined will tell my story.

I am inspired by details.

These pages are part of my contribution to Mary's newest collaboration
4 Artists 4 Ways
I always say I'd like to challenge myself by placing a strict time limit on my design & hopefully come up with a more spontaneous piece.

Try as I might I just can't do it.

I'll be sharing my process & tricks in Artful Pages & can't wait to learn some new techniques from the diverse group Mary's gathered.
I hope you'll check out the link & see the amazing pages Hope, Mary & Lenna have created.
There was a sweet surprise in my mailbox last week.
Donna from Brynwood Needleworks sent me such a wonderful & unexpected gift.
She calls them Mug Mats & is hosting a swap on her blog.
Donna's workmanship is outstanding & again, it's the details!
I treasure your friendship Donna!

Your pages are just scrumptious! I love every little detail you chose to add. They're wonderful!

Thanks so much for mentioning the gift I sent your way. You're such an inspiration - and your blog "look" inspired this mat design. I hope you'll think of me whenever you use it.

Forgot to tell you, I hope for a quick recovery, with your flu hitten family, Lisa- such a nasty thing for kids to be in bed with fever and a sick stomac-- I hope they will soon be on their feet again, dear.
Have a good evening,-
hugs, Dorthe

Hi Lisa,
I hope the old mean flu bug doesn't bite you too!

Your art pages are wonderful, Lisa.
I don't know how you come up with so many lovely elements in your designs. Your imagination takes you away and we are the lucky ones that get to see it and enjoy.

Truthfully, Lisa, you may not "see" it yourself because you're the artist and caught up in the process...but WE see your spontaneity! Your work is very spontaneous and free and totally delightful!!

Sorry you are having to be a nurse. Oh...chilluns with the flu...no fun at all! Hugs to your wee ones and you too!

I have been a fan of your blog, ever since I saw your article in somerset about six months ago(the one about ballerina bedrooms)...love your stuff...I just received a bunch of old black and white and vintage pics from my mom of my grandparents, and great-parent...your stuff shown here is just how I want to want to showcase these family heirlooms (scanned copies of course).
I don't know how you have the time to make such beautiful art with "little ones", you must be able to stay up longer than me!
Cheers,
Leah

Lisa, I hope you realize how talented you are and what joy your art brings to others. Everytime I see you published again, I get such a thrill. Your art speaks to so many of us. It is truly beautiful.
I love it when you can tell that the art is coming from somewhere deep inside a person.

Your pages are awesome, dear Lisa! They are definitely worth the time it takes you to make them. I think real art comes from the heart and can't be done within a time limit. Your students will have lots of fun with your workshop!
I'm sorry to hear that the kids are sick. Hopefully they will get well soon and you don't catch the bug.
Big HUGS,
Julia

Lisa,

You have outdone yourself on this project, just gorgeous!!! I am thinking about taking the class but time is so tight right now for me that I can't do it in live time but Mary said you don't have to do it in live time, that and your project are swaying me to think more seriously about it. Love your art!

You connected with me when you said you spend obscene amounts of time picking and sorting to find just the right image, words, findings -- so do I!! I can sort and pick for hours through my stash trying to find just the right bit to go into that spot that bothers me because it needs something to perk it up! Just glad to know that I am not the only one who does it!

Love your pages! Really like the velvety buds and leaves. They look so soft! Thanks for sharing!
