Clown Car

This was the car as we left Karla's house.
Looks full right?
Not even.
We managed to squeeze in 5 more boxes, a hatbox & a birdcage  somewhere between here & there.
If we had gotten in a wreak we'd have smothered.
An avalanche of junk.

Souvenirs from various malls across the flat-lands.

Tobacco tins for a future class, books & frames & this tarnished silver sugar bowl.

I scored some very fun things at Birdsong.
I'll buy Beth & Karla's cast-offs any day.

Kristi was my personal shopper at Marburger, she brought back a Victorian scrapbook, a lamp from Carolyn Westbrook & these amazing fabric scraps

Sweet little satin heart shaped pouch.

I found about 200 old monograms in a booth marked 75% off.
Of course I had to buy every bag.

Beth gave me some early birthday presents.
An old tin type album screaming 'make me into a book'.

And something from my Wish List.
A small album of pressed flowers from Israel.
I have wanted an herbarium for ages & this is close enough for me!
I am in love with it.

Aged, yellowed tissue protects each page of flowers.

It's too bad the book is in such good shape, wouldn't these be incredible displayed on a wall.
Can you imagine 20 framed botanicals?

I have a few Victorian scrapbooks, but this one
Kristi found is wonderful.

Then an unexpected gift came my way via Philip's teacher.

2 big bags of goodies.
25 high school portraits from the 1940's,
found near a dumpster in Massachusetts.
Besides being the coolest kindergarten teacher ever, Gail loves everything vintage.

The second bag was stuffed with old laces, hundreds of them!

I think a lot of them were samples.

So that night I laid them all out in our bed.
Very carefully sorted.
Neat little piles, short ones together, cards together......
you know.

Kevin walked in & just stared at me for a second,
gave serious eye roll then left.
They just don't get it.

If I lick the screen, does that count as hiking my leg? Good gravy...what a haul.
I am deeply and passionately in love with your herbarium. What a beauty and seriously...what a gift.! I've never seen pages that layered and detailed before.
I'm cracking up at the "Triplets in Business" little book. Isn't it more like "Triplets mean business"?

I'm sitting at work just laughing away at your clown car. I had 10 trips like this while moving once. Neighbors must have thought I was nuts.

Yes, I agree, the men don't understand the sorting, the organizing of all our bits of lace and supplies.

I usually drag everything into our upstairs hallway and put all back at least once a month.

Trouble is, the dog and the man roll their eyes at me....LOL

This is just NOT fair at all! Why do I have to live so danged far from where you get all these goodies! LOL! But I sure am enjoying the eye candy!

I know lots of people who just don't get it - and some of them are women. They need re-trainin'!

Hugs! Diane

That eye roll is just what my husband would do! But the good thing is they know how to choose their battles and if they don't fight the junk, you win!

OMG Lisa, all those treasures are amazing! I had to smile at the book "Triplets in Business". That's so cute. What a great deal you got on those monograms. What material are they made of? The dried flowers are fantastic. Some days ago I picked a couple very small ones in the garden and pressed them in books. I'll wait another week or two until I'll check how they turned out. The old ones are much more beautiful of course.
Philip's teacher is amazing to give you such fantastic gifts. She must know you quite well.
It looks like you had lots of fun at the Birdsong event.
I just made it to your post about your foot surgery. I'm so sorry you had to go through that and will have to again. Hopefully your foot is causing any more pain now. You've got some things done during your recovery. I love your dried flower projects as well as the slip cover. Everything turned out fantastic!
Sending hugs and love,
Julia
