Comings & goings

Finally sent off my Alice tags for Karla's  swap.
Oh, the stress of my first swap ever.

Here's a close up of each one. Starting with the Queen herself,

and my Mad Hatter. I chose to do my tags in a sepia Victorian style.

Late,  & I almost was.  Had to fed-ex these to Karla so she'd get them on time. I used a lot of old images from books & cabinet cards.  This bunny is from an old 'reader' I have.

There's the bunny again.  Also, all of my backgrounds were from Batya of Art Cult.  She's so amazing & a sweetie too, she created these specially for me.
I found a way to sneak a bottle in...& this cool image has Nothing to do with Alice.  I just have a thing for anthropomorphic (thanks, Angela) graphics.

The mushroom is from Anna Griffin's collection, I combined it with my favorite stamp of all time.

And lastly sweet Alice, copied from an antique photo. Bling'd up & ready for a party!
I had a lot of fun doing this swap, so much that I've signed up for another with Heather

Lily joined me in the studio, while the boys fought 'evil forces' outside.  She is my best crafting buddy & even lets me steal her ideas.

We did our own little tag swap.

Something really wonderful came in the mail today. Something I've been expecting & couldn't wait to see.
My dear friend Karen of My Desert Cottage, & I have admired each others work for a long time now.  A few weeks ago we decided to exchange art.  I made her a bottle & look at what she sent me!

The detail is amazing, can you see the book page on the back?  Tiny birds & nests..and the pup looks a lot like my Izzy.  I love the watering can in the foreground, surrounded by delicate white flowers, dusted with mica flakes.

It will look perfect in my bedroom, thank you so very much Karen!

One last thing before you go...

okay, two things.

The postman was really working over-time today. Along with Karen's package, he delivered these! I love them so much!  I ordered them from Michelle Palmer after I read about them on Diane's blog.  They take my breath away.  I had big plans to create with them, but I don't think I can take them out of the package.  They are just too precious.

Have a great day!

Yipee! My SWEET Gig!

I've had such a hard time keeping this to myself.
I've been invited to participate in this year's Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat!  Yahoo!!
Teaching a workshop has been a big goal & I'm so proud to be a part of this event. Cindy really knows how to do it up big, Texas style.  This is my first year as a Cowgirl & it's going the be the biggest & best retreat yet.  12 classes, 12 amazing instructors (tootin my own horn), vendor night & a meet & greet.
I will be teaching mixed media tags & techniques.
(Do these look familiar?)
I will show how to transfer images onto tape, fabric, contact paper & more, have fun with resin & even play with fire! Then we'll take those techniques & create 3 very unique & personal hanging tags.  I believe crafter's of all skill sets will leave with the ability to apply these methods to their altered art.
Here's a list of my fellow Cowgirls & their classes,
Chantel Johnson - Inspirational Tag Book
Joanna Lewis - Feathered Friend Collage
Jennifer Stewat - 4th of July Banner
Deb Taylor - Covered Journal
Jennifer Babcock - Altered Bird Trinket Box
MendyMitrani  (former PC teacher) - Digi Class
Dale Mclain (former PC teacher) - Sea Inspired Shadow Box
Ann-Denise Anderson (former PC Teacher) Victorian Boots
Angela Berger - Shabby Classy Necklace
Laverne - "pocket" book
Cindy Gilstrap - La Petite Boutique Altered Canvas

Corrine Clark - French Paper Shoe
