I have a beautiful Victorian autograph book that once belonged to a girl named Neelie.
It's filled with the most exquisite flouncy script!
While reading the messages written by her friends I imagined what her life may have been like.
The pages to this book became the base for this bottle.
Her name is Miss Neelie Crane.
She is a pretty girl, with long blond hair.
I imagine she liked flowers & loved dancing in pink satin slippers.
And buttons & bows.
I'm dedicating this bottle to Joanna Pierotti,
a teacher, friend & inspiration to me.
She has a tender heart & enormous talent.
Joanna has contributed to many books about mixed media art & her workshops at Moss Hill Studio are amazing!
(It's on my side-bar)
Her altered bottle workshop opened my eyes to so much!
If you aren't already a fan, please check out her blog!

Are you going to add this bottle to your shop??? Cause I WANT IT!!!! It is gorgeous. I think I may need to add to my collection of art bottles by one of my favorite artists, Lisa McIlvain. Perhaps you've heard of her? She is recently published in Somerset Studio and is going to be very famous!!!
xo,
Karen
Beautiful!

Hi Lisa,
What a beautiful bottle and your inspiration behind the design. I imagine that Neelie was very popular and pretty and I bet that she liked laces and jewels and was a very girlie, girl. That's how lovely and inspiring your work is to me. It causes my imagination to wonder.
It's so nice of you to dedicate it to one of your mentors. I know she will be surprised and honored.
Beautiful job my sweet friend.
hugs
Sissie
Dearest Lisa,
You are such a sweetie to dedicate this bottle to me. Thank you so much. I love it. When I first started to create bottle art, mine were very plain and simple, way back when. I'll have to share a picture sometime, might make you laugh. But as time went by, I added more and more detail. Like you, I love vintage laces mixed with metal. That is what I think is so much fun creating these bottles. I LOVED soldering in the "unconventional way". I remember thinking, I can't do that, I'm breaking the rules. But then I realized, who made the rules anyway??? I LOVE how you tell stories with your bottles. My stories usually come later, after I create something. I love your very vintage feminine touch you put to your bottles. And to think I inspired you blesses me so much. I love you as a person Lisa. I feel blessed that we have crossed paths and I know one day we will meet. Your work is top notch!!!!
Oh, and I have to add what really touched me about this bottle is this. As you, I am also now a "motherless" woman. This bottle made me reflect on good memories of my mom. She loved little tiny shoes, glass, cloth, you name it. I use to hunt for them in antique shops to send her on special occasions (not an easy task). Now that she is gone, I would have loved to have had her collection, but sadly she had married someone who preferred to sell her stuff rather than pass it on to her daughters. One thing though, he couldn't take my memories. So this little shoe made me smile and think of the good thoughts of me and my mom. My mom's name was Millie. So hearing Neelie, reminded me a little of Millie :)
Sorry this is so long. Just wanted to share from my heart and thank you for thinking of me. I am so proud of you Lisa for so many reasons, I really am.
Love you sweetie,
joanna
Oh.my.goodness...Lisa!!!!! Your bottle is absolutely breathtaking!!! The photos I saw of this creation pale in comparison to these gorgeous pics! I love the beautiful story of Neelie and how your art can touch so many hearts ~ THAT is what art is all about to me.....you are blessed precious friend ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

I'm sure Joanna Pierotti & Miss Nellie are both busting buttons proud of this bottle made in their honor. It is amazing sweetie! Thank you so much for the sweet words of support, love, prayers & friendship during this scary time. HUGS! Charlene
Lisa,
I too am an admirer of JoAnnA's. I found her blog a long time ago and have been a follower since. I am a student in one of her workshops. Her workshops make all the steps that go into making something you can be proud of doable. She is an interesting lady with a big heart. Thank you for paying tribute to her.

Lisa I love this bottle! No wonder you are being published in every magazine out there. Whenever I see one of your pieces of artwork I wonder about what it is that makes someone so creative? What it is that keeps the ideas coming? And can I catch it from you? I sure hope I can!
hugs
Lisa, this is wonderful and thoughtful and I totally agree about Joanna! YOU, my friend, are also an inspiration to many. Bless both of you very talented women!
