My botanical gardens

I'm still playing with resin, this time preserving wildflowers from last summer.

I've always used Dad's old dictionary to press them.
I found this thrifting today, I'm big time now!

Ferns from my Valentine's bouquet....

will become a series of botanicals for my bedroom.

I bought these felt stems from my favorite scrapbooking store Anthologies.  They are by Prima.  I want to use them with my pressed ferns for kind of a 3-D botanical.
Bought these the same day...aren't they awesome!!  Giant stamps by Donna Downey.  I love this store, it's only blocks from my house so I stop in at least a couple of times a week.

An old poem printed on transparency makes a cool pocket for seeds.  It's a page for a nature journal I'm working on.

First I transferred an old book page onto canvas.

I'm obsessed with this little piece of seaweed. It looked like a little bulb & it dried so beautifully.  My friend Dorthe says in Denmark it's called 'bladder wrack'.  I plan to encase it in resin, but I'm afraid if it doesn't work I'll cry. It's the only piece I have, we found it on a beach in Monterey last summer.  If any of you beach- combers see any, I will pay you for some!

Dear Lisa,

Everything is absolutely beautiful!

I love pressed flowers, I still have a scrapbook my oldest daughter made for Biology her junior year in high school...that was 1998...she laminated everything and they are still perfect!

Thank you for sharing,

Sandy

I like the way you put a transparency in front and made it into a pocket. You are sooo clever. Also the idea of encasing the dried flowers in side is wonderful. Wonder why you couldn't do the same with fresh flowers. They may wilt a little but it would be fun to "try". Thank you always for the great ideas. I am so glad I found your blog.

My grandmother and I used to press flowers from her garden when I was a little girl, and I have done that on and off ever since. It is a lovely way to preserve nature and memories.

Oh Lisa, I love seeing what you're up to. You are so creative - the botanicals will be lovely. The flower press is so enchantingly old-fashioned in the best possible way. Reminds me of a slower, more reflective time.

Very FUN, Lisa!
Adore the etheral feel of that journal page. I also love, love, love preserving/pressing flowers. Play with them in beeswax too...another application that gives such a charming look. Hope you'll share more pages from that nature journal! The page you shared today would be a fun presentation to share some seeds/seed packs with a friend. This is why I love reading your blog...always so inspiring! Thanks for sharing, xo Sue
