Soapbox Reveal!

About a month ago I found this wonderful soap from Pure & Natural & fell in love with the beautiful packaging.  I thought it could be transformed into a great piece of artwork & wanted to see what you would do with it~

Last year Anthroplogie did a whole bee thing. I don't usually buy a lot there unless it's on clearance, but I go in often for inspiration! When I picked this box up the first time I immediately thought back to those amazing displays.

Another inspiration for my box was an article in the March/April issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors by Patrica Baldwin Seggebruch called 'Burned Glue & Paper'. She developed a technique of burning wood glue onto paper & results were really amazing. I love to try new things, especially if it involves burning.

Thanks to everyone who took me up on my challenge, add your blog address to the Mr Linky below so we can see what you did!

A-ha, you found a camera!

LOVING it, especially the wasp nest element. This is the realization of, literally, thinking outside the box.

Needless to say, I miss ya already. Glad to be home, but I miss my girls, you most especially. :-)

This was my first time to ever participate in a challenge and it was fun. I spent the first week just smelling the soap from my square box...ahhh...love it! Your box is way cool! Burning glue...adding it to the list of must try one day. I esp. like what I think is a real piece of nest? Thanks again for all the inspiration! Xo, Sue

Hi Lisa, Thank your for coming up with this great idea! I had so much fun playing.
Your box is awesome! This burning technique sounds very interesting and turned out amazing. Some years ago we had a vintage book about bees and sold it. Now I wish I had scanned in some images but back then I had no idea about my future hobby.
Hopefully you had a great time at the Paper Cowgirls event. Get some rest and sleep well, girl!
Hugs,
Julia

Love that bee box! I'm glad I'm not the only one to haunt Anthro for their ideas. My daughter used to tell me that it was embarrassing the amount of time I'd spend in there to not buy anything!! - Kathy

So, remember that great idea I had for my box, well it bombed. I did start on a new one, but it's not done yet.
So, I most likely won't have the link up until tomorrow. I was gonna finish it this weekend, but I had 2 very long work days, and after those, the most appealing thing is just to sit on the couch and watch TV.

Sandy said...

Be still my heart! Lisa I LOVE this creation. I can't wait to visit the links and see all the awesome art.

Lisa!

I clicked on Mr. Linky with my info without reading the directions (I am a bad girl) and need you to help me out by deleting my link for this project.

I DID NOT do a soapbox--I wish I had, but ran out of time. I hope I don't cause too many people disappointment when they visit my blog.

Your box is amazing Lisa! Wish I had been able to play!

I save wasp nests too (brought a couple to use in your class in fact but I didn't go that route). A while back, I put a couple in a brass & glass box & a few days ago, I noticed that it was full of dead bees. My first thought was "wow, saving bees? That's weird even for you!" but then I realized that they must have "hatched" after I put the nests in & had no way to escape. LOL

Thoroughly enjoyed your class...you rock!
