Art Around The House

It's been a busy weekend.
I the whole family spent all day Saturday mopping, dusting & fluffing in preparation for a very special guest.
One of my best friends...
 the one & only,
She brought along her sweet traveling companion THE Gypsy Mermaid herself, Sarah!
A couple of things about my girl Jodie,
besides being the most hilarious person I know she's a clean freak!
I say this with total love in my heart, but she is.
Her house....well lets just say it is absolute perfection. There is not a speck of dust, not a finger print on the fridge.
Nothing.
Even her dog Oreo is clean!
Now me....  I have 5 year old triplets, a husband & a spoiled dog.
Need I say more?
So this is why I cleaned, polished & drove my family crazy!
But we had a great visit & Jodie was so impressed with my tidy home she snapped a few pictures for me.
I am in awe of Jodie's talents as a photographer.
I know this post is going to be crazy long, but please indulge me.
She made it all look so amazing!
A favorite book on a favorite table.

The cabinet is a craigslist find, I painted & distressed it.
Now it holds some of my art & beautiful swaps from friends.

Every corner of my home holds treasures from dear & talented friends.

Izzy was not impressed with the fact that a famous photographer was shooting the house.
My angel from Dorthe, she was my first swap!

Pillow from Diane Knotts.

Our mantel.

An altered bottle.
Frankenstein book.

Some studio pics.

Gifts from Beth, Karla & Rebecca.
Shoe fetish.

Hug Snug anyone?

A bag made in memory of my Mom.

Oh yeah baby!

A cone from Ann, up close & personal.

Tools of the trade.

The patio outside my studio.

30 pictures!
Am I a narcissist or what?
Izzy finally had enough & parked it on the couch.
Jodie & Sarah hit the road for the long drive back to Eunice.
And me, I just kicked back & lingered in the awesomeness of a clean house.
For about 5 minutes until the Lego's came out!

Your house looks wonderful, and cozy! I am completely inspired by the beautiful soldered bottles... I bought some from an artist a few years ago, that now look very plain to me. I think I'll spruce them up a bit, yours are just stunning!

This was a great post Lisa. I don't know how you would expect to have a perfectly clean house with triplets! I remember when my two were little. It was a struggle to keep up with it..the pics of your home are fantastic. I enjoyed seeing them. And really, there isn't a whole lot better than being able to sit down in a clean home and just relish in it...no matter how fleeting!!!

PS:
All these photos are not a bit narcissistic! They are of your beautiful home and we love seeing them!

Thank you for having me in your LOVELY home. It is beautiful and it reflects so much of your wonderful personality, artistic heart and most of all...every trait of being a LOVING MOTHER & WIFE.
I'm so sad that 7 hours separates us but I'd drive 7,000 hours just to see you and the kids :)
That was the quickest 5 hour visit I've had in my whole life...it seemed like only 30 minutes but I enjoyed every second of it :(
Your home was so welcoming AND CLEAN that I just wanted to curl up in that big fluffy chair and never leave.
I loved my day with you...and I love you too~

Note to self: Clean house thoroughly if Jodie ever comes for a visit ;-).
Note to Lisa: You've missed a spot on the glass shelf! Just kidding, ha, ha, ha!
Thank you for the great tour, Lisa! No wonder that Jodie loves your home! There are so many eye candies to look at. If I ever come for a visit, you'll better hide the keys for all your cabinets, drawers, suitcases etc. because I'd love to peek into each and that would take hours ... :-).
Have a lovely afternoon!
Hugs to you,
Julia

While the house is clean, you gotta take advantage and snap those pictures! My house is so rarely camera ready, usually I just kick things from one side of the room to the other to get a picture. Its so nice when its all clean at once.

I've got some company coming soon, its a good incentive for sprucing up! Hope you 3 had a blast.

I KNEW I'd love your house! The doggie is the bestest bit of decor though! ;-)

Hey, girlfriend, saw you over at the class! I've been cleaning and rearranging my studio all day. Hubby is hanging new shelves and painting things and it's still wet and the room is a mess! Hoping tonight I can print out those backgrounds and get to work on the ghoulish stiff! Lovin' what I'm seeing so far there! Fun!

See you there!
Hugs! Diane

I was there too; didn't you see me?? I was in the back of the Suburban the whole time!! LOL

That Jodie is an amazing photographer but it's so not hard to make your home and FabUlous work look stunning.

Of course, October is coming and I am totally NOT a neat freak, so leave everything as is, even the dog! Can't wait!

Hi Lisa, everything looks fabulous! That Jodie truly is talented with a camera. And you are both equally gifted when it comes to art and craft. Man oh man, Jodie could never come here. This place is full of stuff and cat hair and dust. Ugh! I madly cleaned yesterday afternoon before friends came to visit at 8:30 pm.

How fun to have Jodie visit, even it was only for a short time. I am sure ya'll made the most of it. Best wishes for a wonderful weekend, :) Tammy

We had company over on Wednesday and I have been chasing the kids all over the house with the broom ever since.

Your home inspires me...I can't tell you how many things, bits and pieces I have from my grandparents that I need to make into some sort of lovely assemblage.

Ha. You need to come to my house and tell me how. lol.
