GarUnge Sale!

Happy, happy, joy, joy,
The weather is warm & the garage sales are in full swing. I wore out my ATM card this weekend.  Every time I ran out cash, I'd spot another HUGE sale!  I was a Junkie, but  I got some sweet deals.
Tell me what you think.
$4 for this pile of books, including 3 old scrapbooks.
I cannot pass up these old childen's dictionaries.

$3 for these 2 tarnished beauties.
This might be a good time to warn you, there is nothing really 'pretty' in this post. After I downloaded the picutres I saw that there was very much a theme going on that day.
$5 for this old table.  The previous owner was an artist, I like the grotty painted top.

$10 for 2 sconces.  I'll paint & distress these for my bedroom, the one that's on the 2 year make-over plan.   Okay, maybe these will pass for pretty.

$1 for this rusty old sap bucket.

$1 for the white travel case. Have I shown you my suitcase collection?
It's where I stash my fabric. Believe it or not, I do have a system.  I keep the wools & velvets, on the bottom for now.

Love the fork! These pieces can defiantly be worked into some art.

No, those aren't bugs inside this beautiful bottle. Just good 'ol funk.  Very cool bottle tho, & only $1.
$3 each for these giant Edison bulbs! I freaked when I saw them!

9 inches high! I don't know what they were used for, possibly a marque?
But this was my favorite find of the day.
An old hospital rolling bed tray, it tilts up, for reading, & can be raised & lowered.  It's so heavy & sturdy. The wheels are like a brown clear porcelain, never seen any like them.

It has such a industrial - vintage look, I think it would be the most excellent bathtub caddy. Now I just need a old tub!

If I told you how much I paid, you'd never believe me!

Come back tomorrow for part 2, I have a great story for you. I gotta make this short today, I'm having oral surgery.  I am the WORST patient ever when it comes to this kind of stuff.  I am not in a happy place, but my friends keep reminding me how it'll all be worth it in the end.  Hope you all have a better day than me! LOL

Hey girl, you found some cool stuff. These large bulps are really amazing and the bottle is pretty. I know though that it will be even much prettier when you've done your magic to it. I love your suitcase collection. I've only 2 so far but I know that I want more :-). Those lamps will look beautiful in your bedroom.

Good luck for the surgery, Lisa! I'll be thinking of you.

Big hugs,
Julia

What a haul! You found some amazing treasures. I agree with Karen--our garage sales aren't as great as yours!

I LOVE your suitcase stack. My husband thinks I have way too many vintage suitcases, so they are stashed here and there around the house. I keep trims (laces, ribbon spools) in three, and use another to hold my vintage Japanese-made vintage paper Christmas houses.

I can't wait for PC! Check out my blog because I just had to show off the packet you sent your students!

Oh my, I see great beauty in those finds!! There's more?
Most times the worst part of things like oral surgery and dreaded "procedures" is thinking about it ahead of time. It'll be over before you know it.

Lisa, I think you are the nicest person I've ever, somewhat, on the computer via comments, met. I am standing here in my kitchen with a lump in my throat and tears running down my face. I pulled in the drive way, coming from work at the shop, and I could see a box that was tucked behind a pot on my porch. I brought it in and saw your name, but quite frankly I couldn't remember what or why you were sending me. When I opened it, I realized immediately that it was hygeine stuff, for our orphans in Ethiopia. Then I saw something wrapped in a pattern and also a darling card and a check. I am so very touched by your generosity.

The quilt kit is so amazing and way beyond kind. I will get it made and show you.

Please, accept my gratitude and my love. I will always remember you and I hope to one day visit you.

Hello Lisa ~I've just strolled in for my first visit...I've enjoyed taking a peek at your past posts. You've got so many wonderful treasures. Your blog is so beautifully inviting.
We share similar taste for so many of the same creative design elements.
As summer approaches I'm looking forward to a little "Saleing!"
Along with the baking/cooking from fresh grown fruits and veggies that will be sprouting up.
Don't you love the aroma that fills the air during this season?
It's definitely invigorating.
I will come by your charming blog again.
I hope you recoup quickly from your oral surgery.
Come by for a visit when your feeling better. Your company would be nice.
Sweet wishes,

Oh, girlfriend, I feel for you today! Hope it doesn't hurt!

You know, when I see all this rusty, grungy stuff that you've bought, I have to wonder what people think when you whip out the $ for them. LOL! They probably wonder what the heck someone would want this old yuck for! If they only knew! Good eye, girlfriend, good eye!

Most of the grungy stuff I find around here is old plastic. LOL!
Give me RUST!

Diane
