One of these days the snow is going to melt & the sun will once again show her pretty face.
To celebrate the arrival of spring, Karla is hosting a weekend of fun, food & creativity called
I'll be teaching my Nature Pouch project.
I made this bag last winter during a snow storm.
Sound familiar?
Once you learn how to weave them you'll want to make bunches!
I used the same technique to make this memory bag in honor of my Mother.
I used bits of her old coat, watch & other treasures. It holds her bible.
I don't mind telling you I'm a wee bit intimidated to be teaching alongside Carol Spinski & Debbie Dusenberry.
They are stars to me, totally inspiring!

Ms. Nathan is no slouch either!

These projects will chase your winter blues away!
There will be lots of yummy food, snacks, goodie bags & a vendor shopping night.
It will be very surreal to actually be inside 'Karla's Cottage' after reading about it on blogs & in the mags for years.
I'm going to attempt a hat count.
Hum....that could be a great contest, whoever comes closest wins a hat from the hoarder herself.
(If she'll give one up)
To find out the details go to Karla's blog here.
Better hurry tho, I heard half the spaces are already sold!

I am sure it will be a wonderfull week-end, for all of you-and you know dear,-you can easily blend with the 3 other wonderfull artists, as you are a wonderfull one, too.
Your bag, is a beautifull proof of that.
I wish you a fantastic time in Karla`s Cottage- I would love to be there ,with her,you,-and the others.
Have the biggest time of all, sweet-

Lisa,
I adore your project! I sad beyond sad because I don't think I am going to be able to come. My daughter just got engaged and is getting married mid June and I think all my class/travel money will be channeled into the wedding fund. Oh well, maybe next time. I know you gals will have a wonderful time and it will be a fantastic class. I hope to catch up with you at another event.
YAYYYYYY I cannot wait to go !!!
It is going to be a blast !
xoxo

Wow, your bags are fabulous! Your Memory Bag gave me chills ~ I made a memory necklace in honor of my mom and dad and the watchface looks hauntingly familar!

Used to live in Leawood,KS, and would have loved to visit Karla's Cottage ~ come to Chicago!
Hugs, Kathleen
I actually gave one up to Beth yesterday! She was making gift bags all day for our Bird Song event. I even plucked the hat for her.
You are right, that would be a fun contest. A little like counting the jelly beans in a jar. I think we might do that as a game for the attendees!!!!
Well, it stinks to high heaven that I had to back out due to all the calamities on this end. But I know it will be an amazing weekend with amazing women!
And you more than can hold your own alongside anybody, Ms. McIlvain! Don't ever forget that!
Off for now, our pipes froze again this morning!
Hi Lisa,
Believe me dear you have no need to feel anything less than wonderful when in the midst of artist. You are one of the best!
Just look at these lovely bags that you create, just to name a few. They are gorgeous.
Go and have fun and come back and tell us all about it!!!
hugs
Sissie
I'm going to go! I am so excited! It's going to be so fun! I totally know what you mean about being at the Cottage after "being there" via the blog and all, all these years!
I love your memory pouch with the bits of your Mom's coat- and Lily is just the spittin' image of your Mom.
Hi Lisa:
Sounds like a grand time. You'll be fabulous, as always! Take lots of pictures to share.
xoxo

Lisa you are going to have the time of your life. What a dream it would be to get to spend time with Karla...at her house...with her 'stuff'. Pure magic I am sure.
I laughed at your last post and you sobbing when you read the school closures. It reminded me of this sweet mom that came with my daughter this weekend to craft in my studio and get a break from her children. She has four year old twins and a two year old. She kept saying "I want to stay for a week, does that make me a bad mom". LOL! I assured her it was normal and that I understood completely because I had raised six of my own.
BTW I loved your little redneck snowsuits!!!
love ya...
Hey girl, there is absolutely NO reason for you being intimidated! Your artwork is awesome and you certainly are a star as well!
I LOVE your nature pouch, Lisa! It's gorgeous and I wish I could come over to play with you.
Hopefully the snow is gone in your area and you get some more time for yourself again :-).
Big HUGS,
Julia
Not Fair, Not Fair, Not Fair!!!!!You gals in Texas get to have ALL THE FUN! (Okay, I know Kansas isn't in Texas, but you get my point!)
I'm sure it will be a most wonderful weekend. Wish I could be there :(
I was thinking about you today as I watched the weather channel again... Holy Smokes! Are you freezing your tuschy off like the cartoon in Charlene's email???
xo,
Karen
Hi Lisa...love your newest creation! This event sounds like so much fun...wish it wasn't so far away! Counting on you for photos when you get back!
Hi Lisa,
I am coming to Karla's event and looking forward to meeting you! I am very excited to make your pretty pouch!!
I love your little pouches...snowstorms are good for something, I guess! Great photo of Karla!
Oh Lisa....I still hate it that I'm not going to be there!! Can I just come and be your assistant??? :) This project is GORGEOUS!!! I so love the fact that you wove fragments of your mother's things into her memory pouch...what an amazing keepsake! You girls are going to have the best time ever :) hugs and love, Dawn
Beautiful altered art!
Congrats on the teaching gig ~ And the one for Paper Cowgirl. I was determined to get there this year, but it's the same weekend we're planning to celebrate my niece's birthday in NJ at the beach. I guess I'll try again next year!
When will you be hosting classes at your home? I'd love to take another one of your classes - hint, hint :)
This should be a piece of cake for you...you have so much creativity, you will do just fine. Have fun..love your blog!!! Hugs, Mary
Lisa, I think your project is spectacular! What a wonderful event that will be! Unfortunately, I can't attend, but I volunteered to contribute to the goody bags of each participant.
I don't think you'll be able to get a count of the hats...they're displayed everywhere and stacked deep into the cabinet. I mean it...I've been there and they're tribbles.
Can't WAIT to see you!
Can't wait to meet you in Lawrence and create beautiful things.
That will be so much fun for y'all! Wish I could go. You're just going to have to do an online demo on those bags. Too pretty!

Hi sweet Lisa - I sure have missed you - I am just now crawling out of the craft room where i have been working away all winter! Oh how I wish I lived closer to you - I would be in heaven if I could attend one of your classes.
These nature pouches are just beautiful - they will be a huge hit at the craft gathering! You are always so uniquely creative - truly - your creations are out of this world.

I am coming to Karla's and am excited to meet you and take your class which looks like a fabulous project... I agree that it will be surreal to actually being inside Karla's Cottage...The thought just makes me giddy!!
Hi Lisa
Just got back last night from AZ, it was 2 weeks of sunshine and beautiful weather... it is sleeting here this morning, back to reality.
Karen and I got together for a little junking and lunch one day last week. Had a lot of fun and I found the most wonderful hanging cupboard for my computer room I am redoing.
Hope you have a great Sunday
Bless you

Hi Lisa,
What an incrediable artist you are! Your nature pouch is fantastic! I would have loved to attend this event! Your memory bag is so touching...you put your heart and soul into this.
I am having a giveaway celebration on my blog...please come visit, if you have a chance.
Have a wonderful week.
Blessings,
Sonya
Lisa,
This is wonderful. I love your Nature pouch and love the one you did for your mother. I wanted to go to this soooo badly and I am just not sure what will be happening with Jud at that time. Such is life but I am disappointed. You are a very talented group of teachers, each in your own unique way and I would love creating each project. I know this is going to be great fun and I am hoping that you will do it again. have brothers in KC and this would be so easy for me to do.
Have a wonderful time!
Hugs,
Suz
